Radionuclides Contamination in Soil: Effects, Sources and Spatial Distribution

چکیده
Radionuclide concentrations in the soil depend on geological and anthropogenic activities of an area. They influence level gamma radiation environment, which can cause significant health risk humans. Due to non-uniform distribution radionuclides soil, various measurement methods have been adopted monitor our environment. The challenges involved collecting environmental samples, duration, technicality cost led models for predicting unmeasured locations. This article presents geostatistical method using kriging techniques, adopt theory regionalized variables, characterize spatial radionuclide un-sampled locations data obtained from sampled Among other things, this paper results application a study Spatial reveal Though area are below global average set by United Nations Scientific Committee Effects atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR), map be used provide adequate information needed regulatory authorities identifying contaminated need remediation.

Soil contamination with radionuclides and potential remediation.
Soils contaminated with radionuclides, particularly 137Cs and 90Sr, pose a long-term radiation hazard to human health through exposure via the foodchain and other pathways. Remediation of radionuclide-contaminated soils has become increasingly important. Removal of the contaminated surface soil (often up to 40 cm) or immobilization of radionuclides in soils by applying mineral and chemical amen...
متن کاملLevels, Spatial Distribution and Possible Sources of Heavy Metal Contamination of Suburban Soil in Jhansi
Heavy metal pollution has become a serious health concern in recent years, because of industrial and agricultural development. Heavy metals of industrial bio-waste contaminate drinking water, food and air. The toxic heavy metals of great concern are Cd, Pb and Hg which are usually associated with harmful effects in men and animals. It is recognized that heavy metals may exercise a definite infl...

The reference values of the massic activities of each nuclide and their associated standard uncertainties were established based on the certified activity value of the standard solutions used for spiking the soil, taking into account the successive dilution steps, the mass of spiking solutions and the dry mass of the soil being spiked. Radionuclide Certified Value Bq kg Standard combined uncert...
متن کاملDistribution of chromium contamination and microbial activity in soil aggregates.
Biogeochemical transformations of redox-sensitive chemicals in soils can be strongly transport-controlled and localized. This was tested through experiments on chromium diffusion and reduction in soil aggregates that were exposed to chromate solutions. Reduction of soluble Cr(VI) to insoluble Cr(II) occurred only within the surface layer of aggregates with higher available organic carbon and hi...
متن کاملEvaluation and Mapping Spatial Distribution of Copper Pollution in Soil and Water of Vineyard Garden
Background and objectives: The use of copper based fungicides is a crucial part of agricultural operations in vineyards, increasing productivity and crops. However, the long term application of fungicide could increase the copper concentration in the vineyard soils. Methods: In this study, soil and water chemical parameters including copper contamination, pH and EC as well as soil organic ...
